However, for $40 a month, users will still be able to watch real-time TV broadcasts from three local stations and access the internet via a high-speed connection.
General manager of Mobitel, David Spriggs, told the Associated Press that he did not see the effectiveness of the government’s ban on video phone services when unlimited access to the internet, where pornography was easily available, was allowed.
If and when the government changes its position, we will be able offer video phone, Mr Spriggs said.
Mobitel currently has over one million mobile phone users.
