Cambex Corp, Waltham, Massachusetts and EMC Corp, Hopkinton, have swapped IBM Corp mainframe add-on memory lines to consolidate the business of each. Cambex will pay $11.5m over two years for EMC’s 3090 and ES/9021 memory business, and retain the arrangement under which Storage Technology Corp sell it, and EMC will pay $500,000 for Cambex’s low-end memory business for IBM ES/9121 and 9221 boxes, to add to its own.
