CALLBACK COMMUNICATIONS WIN UK OFFICE OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS APPROVAL

Callback Communications Ltd yesterday became the first company to obtain UK Office of Telecommunications approval to connect telephone systems to the British Telecommunications Plc network; prior to the approval, Callback, which also installs phones, had to wait for a Telecom inspection before it could connect up any telephone systems: Alan Cobb of the TIA, the association of independent telecommunications companies, hailed this first Oftel approval as a victory for independent companies and a none-too-soon abolition of British Telecom’s former 100 year old monopoly.
