CALIFORNIA OFFICIALS FILE COMPLAINT AGAINST IBM

Details are unclear but county assessors throughout California have filed a complaint in Superior Court naming IBM Corp as a party to a lawsuit over taxation of software. the action, filed against the California State Board of Equalization taxation authority, challenges that authority’s effort to exempt computer programs from property taxes the lawsuit says this is invalid and contrary to the state tax code.
