TaiwanÆs First International Computer Inc (FIC) has signed an agreement to bundle Caldera Systems Inc’s OpenLinux 2.3 operating system with its server systems. We are now able to provide our users with a popular alternative operating system solution to Windows, said executive vice president Gene Sheu. FIC will work with US-based Caldera to develop and sell thin client platforms based on OpenLinux technology, while providing service, support and systems integration services. Our products are targeted at the SOHO [small office, home office] and server markets such as governments and educational institutions, Sheu said. FIC will initially be offering OpenLinux 2.3 bundled with its Sahara 1000 series servers and Equinox 1530 thin client solutions, he said.
