Computer Associates International Inc and Softbank Corp this week announced plans to establish a joint enterprise management center in Japan with the aim of helping systems integrators and resellers implement effective enterprise management strategies. The center will serve as distribution house for CA’s products, namely its Unicenter TNG systems management software and Jasmine database, as well as offering consulting, implementation support, technical education and a specialized help desk. In addition, the center will support the SI/VAR channel by initiating a variety of marketing programs aimed at high-potential accounts and referring that business to qualified channel partners. A spokesperson for CA said the company decided to partner with Softbank to capitalize on the huge growth of the IT market in that country. The two companies plan a variety of joint technology and marketing initiatives to help launch the Center inside Softbank, which is expected to be fully functional by the third quarter 1999.
