Los Gatos, California-based Caere Corp reports that its acquisition of Calera Recognition Systems Inc, which was to have been approved by their shareholders this week, has received notice that the Antitrust Division of the US Department of Justice is investigating the deal, but says due to the last-minute timing of the notice, as well as their belief that the merger does not violate the antitrust laws, Caere and Calera intend to consummate the merger upon approval by their stockholders; Caere plans to buy Calera in a deal worth $35.3m.
