Cadcentre Group Plc, the Cambridge, UK in process and power plant design software developer, has formed a strategic alliance with AEA Technology Plc on 2D and 3D plant design software. In return for a payment of up to $4.5m, Cadcentre will get the right to integrate and develop the two companies 3D technology and client base and sell AEA’s 2D software. The products covered by the agreement were developed by EA Systems, an Alameda, California company bought by AEA in July 1998 (CI No 3,444). Cadcentre chief executive Crispin Gray said the deal would give it one of the world’s largest installed bases for high-end 3D plant design systems and broaden its product range.
