A UK publication recently claimed that BAE had held informal talks to buy CACI, and the rumors sent CACI shares up nearly 9%.

However, in a statement, CACI has now stated that the press reports have unexpectedly caused a number of CACI’s federal government clients to raise concerns about potential conflicts of interest if BAE bought the company.

Thus, in exception to its policies not to comment on rumored talks with third parties, CACI said it is not and has not been in discussions with BAE Systems regarding a possible business combination, and has not authorized anyone to engage in such discussions on its behalf.

Following the initial reports, BAE said the company refuses to comment on speculation about acquisition.
