CACE Technologies launches SDMS Product Family

Extends Wireshark functionality throughout distributed network environments

By CBR Staff Writer

CACE Technologies, a developer of tools that enhance the Wireshark user experience, has launched a new family of products under the umbrella moniker of the Shark Distributed Monitoring System (SDMS) that delivers enterprise-wide offering for line-rate network recording, monitoring and analysis.

The company said that the SDMS family products are integrated with Wireshark and are designed to extend Wireshark functionality throughout distributed network environments.

The SDMS family includes The Shark Appliance, The Shark Appliance Kit, and The Pilot Console. The Shark Appliance is a network analysis, monitoring and recording tool that delivers enhanced network visibility, anomaly detection, troubleshooting and retrospective analysis; the Shark Appliance Kit is designed for customers who want to build their own Shark Appliance; and the Pilot Console is an enhanced version of CACE Pilot, capable of accessing and controlling one or more remote Shark Appliances, the company said.

According to CACE, the SDMS product family features a continuous, line-rate, multi-gigabit per second network traffic recording without packet drops using an optimised multi-terabyte packet storage system; full Wireshark integration; intuitive, visual, and interactive user interface; quick and easy time interval isolation within multi-terabyte network recordings.

In addition, the SDMS also features precise and in-depth retrospective analysis of real-time and offline traffic analytics; drag and drop multi-level drill-down for local and remote analysis and troubleshooting; many-to-many console/appliance interaction; and multi-threaded software architecture for simultaneous, high-performance capture, analysis and display.

Loris Degioanni, CTO and chief engineer of the SDMS product family at CACE Technologies, said: “Our extremely fast and intuitive Pilot user interface allows you to remotely navigate across terabytes of data and pinpoint issues in a few mouse clicks. It also has full integration with Wireshark, so you can highlight a conversation on the remote Shark Appliance and instantly see the relevant packets in Wireshark on your laptop.

“The Shark Appliance Kit, I believe, is quite revolutionary, because it will make it possible for the user to build a Shark Appliance to meet specific needs, saving a significant amount of money. We’re giving the market unmatched capture and analysis performance at an unbeatable price.”
