Latest inward investment win for Ireland’s Industrial Development Authority is Rochester, New Hampshire-based Cabletron Systems Inc. The company plans to open a 40,000 square foot manufacturing facility vacated by Varian Associates Inc in the Plassey Technological Park in Limerick, with the opening date set for August. The plant will serve as a manufacturing and distribution base for all Cabletron products sold in Europe intelligent wiring hubs; communications and management modules for Ethernet, Token Ring and Fibre Digital Data Interface networking technologies; and network adaptor boards. The company says it hopes the plant will make it better placed in the European Single Market and give it access to the bidding process for large government, business, and institutional contracts throughout Europe.
