Cabletron Systems Inc, Rochester, New Hampshire has announced its entry into the stackable hub market with the launch of the HubStack family. The company claims that its new range is the first line of low-cost stackable hubs to include integrated bridge-routing and remote protocol analysis for branch offices, wide area and enterprise networks and low-communications workgroups. The MicroMMAC is an intelligent modular hub designed for managing the HubStack family, and is available in 12 or 24-port models. It supports Cabletron’s new Bridge Routing Interface Modules, a set of miniature bridge-routers that plug directly into the MicroMMAC for integrated remote wide area network bridge-routing services. Also new are the Stackable Ethernet Hubs, in 12 or 24-port versions and with optional network management – the SEHi. Both the MicroMMAC and the SEHi can be stacked with up to four of the company’s new non-intelligent Stackable Ethernet Hubss to create fully manageable networks of up to 130 nodes. The MicroMMAC line will be available in September. The 12-port MicroMMAC-22E will cost $4,900 and the 24-port MicroMMAC-24E $5,500. The 12-port SEH-22 costs $1,400 and the 24-port SEH-24 costs $2,000; both will be available in October. Network management adds $1,000 to these prices. The BRIM-WT1 and BRIM-E1 are available this quarter, with the BRIM-WT1 at $1,500, the BRIM-E1 $2,000.
