Rochester, New Hampshire-headquartered Cabletron Systems Inc has announced what it claims as the first end-user working installation for Asynchronous Transfer Mode technology in Europe: Glasgow, Scotland-based Caledonian Publishing is using the standard in its desktop publishing data transfer operations, with Cabletron MMAC hubs providing the uplinks directly from Switched Ethernet in a central Fore Systems Inc backbone switch.
