Rochester, New Hampshire-based Cabletron Systems Inc used NetWorld to announce that it has begun shipping its F6069 Desktop Network Interface board, claimed as the first adaptor to support FDDI routing capabilities for Macintosh users located on LocalTalk, Ethernet, Token Ring or FDDI networks: the routing capabilities are provided through Cabletron’s support for the enhanced AppleTalk Update-based Routing Protocol; Cabletron’s F6069 Desktop Network Interface board delivers processing for on-board protocol-management through Motorola Inc’s 68ec020 processor and is SNMP-manageable; it is out now at $3,000.
