Cabletron Systems Inc, Rochester, New Hampshire has announced a plan to do a version of its Spectrum for Open Systems network management application for Microsoft Corp Windows NT. The implementation is to include SpectroServer, a modelling engine containing a multiprotocol communications handler, database and artificial intelligence technology: this is said to have features including AutoDiscovery, Command Line Interface, a SNMP Protocol Module, and an Imaging Toolkit. Spectrum for Open Systems is already available under Sun Microsystems’ SunOS and Solaris, Digital Equipment Corp’s Ultrix, Silicon Graphics Inc’s Irix and IBM Corp’s AIX Unix operating systems. No word yet on when the version planned for Windows NT will be ready.
