Cabletron Systems Inc and Intellect Visual Communications Corp have announced a joint technology development and marketing agreement for the use of Internet Protocol multicasting in video- conferencing applications. The agreement will integrate Cabletron’s networking equipment with Intellect’s LANscape desktop video-conferencing system. Cabletron claims it is the first vendor to support IP multicast, using the Internet Group Messaging Protocol standard, over Gigabit Ethernet and asynchronous transfer mode networks.
