Rochester, New Hampshire-headquartered Cabletron Systems Inc has announced that it will be adding an FDDI uplink option to the Concord 8/16 port stackable Token Ring switch it is taking OEM under the TSX-1620 label from Littleton, Massachusetts-based Nashoba Networks Inc. The deal between the two for the switch was first announced last April. According to Cabletron, the FDDI option is aimed at the installed base of FDDI nodes in Fortune 500 organisations, and will offer enhanced network management through Simple Network Management Protocol and Remote Monitoring, as well as include an additional four switched Token Ring ports. It will be fully manageable through the company’s Spectrum system, Spectrum Portable Management Applications and Remote LanView for Windows, adds the firm. The TSX-1620 will be available in 60 days with a per-port cost of $1,625. The TSX-1620-F4 FDDI Uplink Option will ship in first quarter next year.
