Lord Young, chairman of Cable & Wireless Plc, yesterday proposed to the UK Trade & Industry Select Committee that British Telecommunications Plc should be allowed to broadcast entertainment in return for fair and open access to existing and future networks and stressed that if the current regulatory constraints on interconnect were allowed to continue, UK customers would be deprived of the full potential of the exciting multimedia services of the future.
