CABLE & WIRELESS PLC IS TO BE A SHAREHOLDER IN TWO NEW TRANSATLANTIC CABLES IN PARTNERSHIP WITH AT&T CO

Cable & Wireless Plc is to be a shareholder in two new transatlantic cables in partnership with AT&T Co, Deutsche Bundespost Telekom, France Telecom and the Netherlands state phone company: the first will be landed in Germany in 1992, the second will be landed in France in 1993, with a spur on to the UK.
