CABLE & WIRELESS INTERNET TOUTS CO-MARKETING DEALS

Cable & Wireless, newly in possession of MCI Communications Corp’s internet business, which it claims means it carries up to 40% of traffic on the entire net, recognizes the need to get its name better known in the US and we can expect some co-marketing deals, along the lines of those struck by AT&T Corp and MCI with the portal companies. C&W notes that those deals are not exclusive. It is also planning an extensive advertising campaign in all media types to spread the word. On the often controversial subject of peering, C&W claims it has a fair peering policy and will link with other ISPs for free providing the ratio of traffic does not exceed 1.8:1 in the other ISP’s favor.
