Cable & Wireless Plc rose 10 pence to 420p in early trading yesterday after it announced that it had sold its 5.03% stake in Mannesmann Mobilfunk GmbH for ú230m. The stake was bought by Mannesmann AG and AirTouch Communications Inc, now the only shareholders in it. The purchase will raise Mannesmann’s direct stake in Mobilfunk to 61.6% and AirTouch’s shareholding to 31.4%. The remaining 7.0% is to be held in trust for the two partners.
