CABLE & WIRELESS ASIASAT PROGRAMME MOVES A STEP FORWARD

Cable & Wireless Plc’s AsiaSat programme to launch the former Westar VI satellite and operate it as a telecommunications satellite for a number of Far Eastern countries took a step forward Friday when AsiaSat signed with Great Wall Industry Corp of China for the bird to fly on the Long March III rocket early next year: with Cable & Wireless in the AsiaSat consortium are China’s Citic Technology Inc and Hutchison Telecommunications Ltd.
