The companies will work closely together to deliver to their combined customer base a scaleable and robust global platform on which enterprises, web portals, ISPs and telecommunications carriers can build sophisticated revenue-generating wireless data services.
To date, sending SMS messages over the internet has been unpredictable, but this agreement intends to bring reliable, cost efficient SMS routing, based on IP, to the marketplace. Cable & Wireless will host and maintain Quios’ SMS Gateway from its hosting centre in San Jose, USA, providing IP connectivity through Cable & Wireless’ high-speed global network. A second gateway will be managed and hosted from Cable & Wireless’ recently launched Paris hosting centre later this year.
Quios’ SMS Gateway, which provides access to 400 mobile operators throughout the world, will run on Cable & Wireless’ high speed IP network. This combination of technology and expertise will provide customers with a reliable, global infrastructure upon which they can create and build services and take advantage of the fast-growing market for real-time SMS.
