The UK Cable Group has established a new company, to be based in South Harrow, Middlesex, which will develop and market the group’s Crimp+ cable management software system. The Group has also announced a strategic marketing agreement with British Telecommunications Plc for the product, under which BT is to install the system itself, as well as selling it to its Premises Cabling Services customers. Intellectual property rights for Crimp+ formerly belonged to Cableship Ltd (also a member of The Cable Group) but are now to be passed to the new company, Cablesoft Ltd. Cablesoft is to sell the product both direct and through resellers. Under the agreement with British Telecom, the latter is to integrate the system with its existing software technologies in all 14 of its standard wiring regional planning offices. Cableship says the Crimp+ system is already used by National Westminster Bank Plc and Hewlett-Packard Co as well as British Telecom.
