CABLE AND WIRELESS WINS PALESTINE DEAL

By CBR Staff Writer

Cable and Wireless Plc has won a deal with Paltel, the Palestine Telecommunications Co to provide support in the management and development of the telecommunications sector in Palestine. C&W is to provide a management team to Paltel, which was privatized earlier this year as part of President Arafat’s national policy for infrastructure development; Paltel has plans to develop an independent telecommunications network to 2 million people on the West Bank and Gaza. C&W has a long history of operating telecommunications services in the Middle East.
