The firm recently rebranded its whole line of enterprise software. In the case of security, it dropped the eTrust and PestPatrol brands.
Now, they’re just CA Anti-Virus and CA Anti-Spyware. Together, with a single management console, they become CA Threat Manager r8.1.
The anti-spyware piece can no do real-time spyware monitoring, watching running processes for known bad programs. Previously, it only offered on-demand scanning and removal.
The software now also supports more operating systems – Mac OS X on Intel, Linux and Solaris, in addition to the original Windows. It also can now be configured in Asian languages.
According to CA senior vice president David Luft, the company is also planning to add its host intrusion prevention product, HIPS, to the Threat Manager management console in future, after requests from customers.
