Computer Associates Inc, Symantec Corp and Sybari Software Inc have become members of Microsoft’s Virus Information Alliance (VIA), joining founder members Network Associates Inc and Trend Micro Inc.

Established in May, the VIA exists to create a centralized resource for Microsoft users seeking information on virus threats. The VIA pools the latest information on viruses from Network Associates’ Avert (Anti-Virus Emergency Response Team) and Trend Micro TrendLabs, and also now from CA, Symantec and Sybari.

The VIA also offers Microsoft users information on security best practices and specific virus threats as well as how-to guides, and resource links from Microsoft’s TechNet resource center web site.
