CA: SELLING UNICENTER LIKE HOT CAKES, EUROPE FIXED?

By CBR Staff Writer

Sounds like momentum for its Unicenter systems and network management software is building and that it has fixed Europe. Computer Associates International Inc yesterday said it expects to report fourth quarter net earnings of $0.90, up 28% on last year and $0.04 ahead of estimates, when it reports its numbers at the end of May. Revenue is expected to rise 9% to $1.2bn, up from $1.1bn last time. Revenue for the year – now to March 31 and not April 30 – will be $3.4bn, including a $598m charge for the acquisition of Cheyenne Software taken in its third quarter, down 2.8% on last year’s $3.5bn, which included a $751.7m charge for writing off purchased research and development in the Legent Corp acquisition. Net income is expected to rise 28% to $2.54 per share for the year or $922.2m. Unicenter revenue was up $46m in the quarter to $440m.
