Management software supplier CA Inc has retooled some key mainframe systems control programmes so they can better monitor legacy applications being run over latest IP-based networks.
Improvements made to CA’s NetMaster network management toolset mean that previously hidden issues associated with the IBM Enterprise Extender technology that is used to transmit SNA transport protocols over an IP network become more manageable.
R11.6 better safeguards application availability and performance, the company said as it released the upgrade.
Announcing the availability of another of its server management suites, the vendor flagged the arrival in r12 of the SYSVIEW Performance Management suite of graphical performance dashboards for personalised data displays.
It also noted new auditing features that allows commands entered by all users to be recorded and reviewed as required to manage IT compliance requirements.
Enterprise Extender has provided data centres with a route for seamless transition to mainframe SNA over IP, in a manner that reduces network complexity and cost.
It has become vital as a way of retaining existing SNA devices and applications, while being able to support pure IP from end to end with no loss of availability or reliability.
