Computer Associates International Inc is now shipping the first version of the Neugents neural network technology it introduced as part of its Unicenter TND (The New Dimension) preview back in April (CI No 3,398). Neugents comes from the AI Ware Inc acquisition CA made last year (CI No 3,315). Implemented as an add-on option to Unicenter TNG 2.2, Neugents can pro-actively prevent performance and availability problems beyond the abilities of current trend and resource analysis tools, according to CA. It adds multidimensional pattern recognition capabilities to Unicenter’s monitoring resources, through which it learns about past system history in order to make predictions such as there is a 70% chance the system will experience a performance bottleneck in 40 minutes. Future versions will encompass active data mining, e-commerce and financial services. Pricing begins at $2,000 for Windows NT servers. The next version of Unicenter, TND, is expected to ship some time next year, when the capabilities of the agents will move beyond network performance and server management to include routers and hubs, and integrate with CA’s Jasmine object database, acting as the object repository for the client front-end.
