The CA Asset Adapter for Microsoft SMS (Systems Management Server) 2003 transfers data collected by the Microsoft offering into CA’s enterprise management database (MDB). That’s the management database that underlies CA Unicenter’s 11.x generation of products (although, of course, CA is no longer calling it Unicenter).

The notion is that SMS already has a fairly robust store of asset data from the Windows LAN and desktop environment, and this link provides a way for CA to incorporate it for use by all of its management tools, which are in the midst of a multi-year rebranding effort that was just kicked off a month ago.

In turn, CA’s new Wily Technology Management Pack for Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2007 will enable IT users to conduct more effective Level 1 technical support for .NET software in production. It complements capabilities that Wily has long provided on the Java side, and follows its recent announcement of new .NET support.

The Wily offering for Microsoft System Center Operations Manager will be available only through CA/Wily’s professional services.
