eTrust Secure Content Management comprises CA’s existing desktop, server and gateway AV software with blacklist, whitelist and keyword content filtering, Secure Computing Corp’s offensive URL database, and the ability to block known malicious code.

CA’s director of product management Brad Meehan said users will have the ability to use the same filtering policies across SMTP, HTTP and FTP traffic, while creating policies customizable down to the individual user level.

The company will sell the software starting at $55 a seat, but will offer discounts for buyer migrating from competing anti-virus software providers. Customers buying eTrust Antivirus between now and launch will also get a discount on the upgrade.

AV companies have adding more filtering features recently. Symantec Corp and Trend Micro Inc, for examples, have both started to offer types of content filtering either via in-house development or with integration partnerships.
