CA BEGINS STORAGE MANAGEMENT PUSH WITH HDS

By CBR Staff Writer

Hitachi Data Systems Ltd is hitching its server and storage wagons to the new breed of systems management environments, the first being an arrangement with Computer Associates International Inc. The two will develop, integrate and embed CA Unicenter TNG’s storage management functions into HDS’s Freedom arrays. The two will likely apply what they learn on this project to other relationships; HDS to embrace the Tivoli Systems management environment and CA to other storage suppliers. Furthermore HDS and CA will also extend the new features of TNG for use with HDS’ Skyline and Pilot mainframes and create new service offerings. HDS will continue to resell the Harbor Systems Management Ltd backup, restore, file transfer and storage management software designed for use with HDS’ Freedom 7700E multiplatform disk array.
