CA AND TAIWAN COMPANY LAUNCH $4M E-COMMERCE VENTURE

Islandia, New York business software supplier Computer Associates International Inc and Information Technology Pioneer International, an affiliate of Taiwan’s Institute for Information Industry (III), are to launch a joint company to develop e-commerce software for the Asian market. The companies will establish the yet-to-be-named company with $4m, each taking a 50% share, with III president General Kuo as chairman. Kuo claims there are three million internet users in Taiwan, and e-commerce there could be worth $600m by 2000. The first products are planned for release by August 1999.
