CA and Nexio build online ITSM library

Computer Associates International Inc has called in Nexio Technologies Inc to co-develop a reference library that ties the use of CA's systems management software products to best-practice standards for service management.

By CBR Staff Writer

Nexio’s background is as a company that specializes in assisting multinational organizations shift their applications from one operating system platform to another. During development of its migration services operations it has picked up skills that relate to ITSM and build on ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) best practices.

The company develops methods out of real-world best-practice deployments, suggests techniques for developing a roadmap for improved IT service management, and offers tips on where to begin and how to promote success. Its clients include Air Canada, Equifax, and Morgan Stanley.

The pressing need for IT to comply with a growing body of regulations has meant that the benefits of implementing industry standards and frameworks such as ITIL, CobiT, and BS15000 are becoming more attractive to IT shops.

ITIL has become the most widely used IT service management best-practice approach, but in some circles the guidelines are considered too conceptual, and a good many projects have failed or stalled because they exceeded their budget. Knowing where to start is another common problem, and it is this aspect that is addressed with the new CANexion online library, which provides ITIL processes and implementation procedures that are mapped directly to the use of existing CA service management products.

The CANexion library was jointly developed by CA Technology Services and Nexio and is available free at https://supportconnect.ca.com.
