C ITOH LAUNCHES THE NEW WANG VS7000 IN JAPAN

C Itoh Data Systems has launched the new Wang Laboratories VS7000 small mainframes in Japan, and will pitch them at the international divisions of Japanese banks and corporations, and at foreign companies entering Japan who need an office-automation oriented business computer: Itoh has also announced Wang’s SAFE banking software package that provides an interface with the Swift, Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunications international banking foreign exchange network; the SAFE package will be available in Japan in the autumn, and Itoh is targeting sales of 15 of the systems in the first year, at prices ranging from $35,000 to $105,000.
