C-C-C Group, the video conferencing company, has announced the release of version 5.0 of its desktop video conferencing system, FreeVision. The company claims that the main difference between its system and others is that Free Vision’s codecs and multiway mixers and other equipment are held in a central location with the signal being delivered to the desktop through ordinary twisted pair cabling, rather than having to bolt a separate box onto each PC using the video-conferencing system. The system operates at 30 frames per second and supports video conferencing (H.320 standard) and the data collaboration (T.120 standard) interoperability.
