C2C Systems Ltd of Henley-on-Thames, Oxford is distributing SpaceFinder, a new disk management tool for MVS systems, developed in the US by the research division of Adams Systems Corp for Technical Software Products Inc of Bellevue, Washington. The product is said to require no knowledge of the environment in finding disk space to meet production and testing deadlines, and runs without system hooks under MVS, MVS/XA and MVS/ESA using the TSO/ISPF interface. It enables analysis of data sets or free space and is driven by a main filter panel which is claimed to remove the need for multiple utilities. The input filter panel provides a view into the disk subsystem and it enables users to evaluate the environment, including pool, size, speed and data set information. There are a number of options such as default, a short list disk inventory, and an esoteric option for evaluating the storage environment through the use of physical and logical pools. Spacefinder also provides System Managed Storage pool reporting and it is capable of reporting all data in graphic form using IBM’s Graphic Data Display Manager interface. Spacefinder is out now and costs UKP6,000.
