ByPost has been awarded the title ‘Best Mobile Business Award’ at the Smarta 100 Awards, sponsored by O2.
The innovative mobile application that allows you to send real postcards from your iPhone, which was set up by Luke Heron in November 2010, grown to become number one in the iTunes Chart in 22 countries.
The ByPost app fought off competition from 1,500 companies to scoop the top prize at the annual awards celebrating the UK’s most disruptive enterprises.
The ceremony sought to find the best businesses in the UK. The awards were not looking for those businesses who made the most money, but the companies which had the most original ideas and made a true difference.
Smarta 100 wanted to find the beacons of enterprising Britain, the small firms that pushed the economic recovery forward, be it a brilliant social enterprise, an inspiring young tech start-up or a small manufacturer.
Previous winners include perfectly marketed onesie brand Kigu, customer funded wine business, Naked Wines, crowd-sourced design firm Concept Cupboard and the world’s first designer energy-saving light bulb Plumen.
Luke Heron, CEO of ByPost, said: "This award tops off a fantastic year for ByPost. In the past year our iPhone-only app ‘ByPost Postcard Marker’ has reached number one in the iTunes Chart in 22 Countries across the world and has reached number one in the iTunes Lifestyle Chart in 53 Countries.
"It is one of the fastest growing app phenomena to come out of the UK. Over 5% of UK domiciled iPhones have downloaded the app."
