BUYERS WANT ZENITH DATA

By CBR Staff Writer

Zenith Electronics Corp, Glenview, Illinois is now really under siege. It acknowledges that it is prepared to sell its consumer electronics business, which has been dragging down its Data Systems division, but now a mystery buyer has emerged for the computer side of the business that Zenith wants to keep. Brookhurst Partners Limited Partnership, which now has 6.1% of the company’s shares, down from 7.1% in July, has had talks with an unnamed potential buyer of Zenith Data Systems, and that although no agreements were reached, in view of the the interest expressed, it may have further deiscussions with third parties interested in buying all or part of the company. Brookhurst refused to comment further on its statement.
