In connection with the Commerce Department decision, Newport News, Virginia-based Nview Corp says it intends to phase out its Canadian active-matrix liquid crystal displays operation over the next two months: the company says that at current levels of production, the manufacture of all active-matrix liquid crystal projection products can be accomplished at its existing Newport News plant with little or no addition to staff or facility; it says it applauds announcement by Commerce that it has revoked the 1991 tariff on the import of active-matrix liquid crystal displays.
