IBM Corp’s IBM Deutschland GmbH sees the job cuts it began in 1992 extending into 1995, chief executive Hans-Olaf Henkel told the Frankurter Allgemeine Zeitung, adding that the chances of the 64M-bit memory chip being developed with Siemens AG and Toshiba Corp being fabricated at IBM’s German facilities had been reduced to zero: IBM will likely make it only in the US. IBM Germany shed 2,150 people in 1992, some 3,500 will go from the present 24,600, and more big cuts are now likely next year and in 1995.Henkel expects the German computer market to grow 1% to 2% this year, IBM by less.
