The Business Software Alliance will announce it is to take legal action against two firms for alleged breaches in the Czech Republic’s software copyright laws. The identity of the defendants will be made known at a press conference organised by the Alliance in Prague scheduled to take place at either the end of March or in early April, Jan Muhlfeit, marketing manager of Microsoft Corp in the Czech Republic told Computergram. Microsoft is one of the four original members of the Czech branch of the Alliance, established in 1992. The long heralded prosecutions are understood to be the first serious attempt anywhere in eastern Europe to crack down on software pirates through legal means.
