BUSINESS OBJECTS EXPANDS ITS OLAP SALES CHANNELS

By CBR Staff Writer

In a move to increase its sales channels Business Objects SA has signed an agreement with Sybase Inc that will see the database giant reselling Business Objects’ products with all of its own products, across the world. Originally Sybase distributed the BusinessObjects 4.0 Online Analytical Processing tool only with its QuickStart DataMart program. Business Objects, headquartered in Paris, France and San Jose, California believes the agreement will boost its sales channels which have increased from 25% to 60% over the past year. Last week IBM Corp signed an agreement with Business Objects to distribute its integrated enterprise decision support tools across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the former USSR. Marketing director at Business Objects, Charles Nicholls said he was delighted that Sybase would be selling its tools. He went on to say the agreement shows we have large momentum in the data warehouse solution. Nicholls continued: The agreement represents a significant distribution sales force in its own right and we’re very excited about that. Nicholls said Business Objects has its own direct sales force that complements that of Sybase.
