Following a difficult 1996, Business Objects S.A. has created a strategic advisory committee comprising chief executive Bernard Liautaud, Denis Payre, the departing chief operating officer, and a member of the board of directors that has yet to be named. The committee makes official the role that Payre wants to retain within the company that he founded, even as he relinquishes day- to-day operational responsibilities.
