The requirement that British Telecommunications Plc should not dominate the Phonepoint public cordless phone consortium that it leads has led the company to find another attractive partner to join France Telecom, Nynex Corp and STC Plc in its consortium. The Deutsche Bundespost has applied to join and says it wants to establish a network to the British standard in West Germany, although an incompatible all-German system is likely to be licensed to compete with the Bundespost, reports the Financial Times.
