Deutsche Bundespost Telekom told Reuters it plans to cut the costs to lease 2Mbps telephone lines by 51% in January while the charge for leasing 34Mbps lines will fall 40% and for 140Mbps lines by 54%; the price cuts are larger than those the government has demanded of the firm and are aimed at improving its position as competition increases.
