BULL WINS DEAL TO SELL NCR WORLDMARK SERVERS

By CBR Staff Writer

NCR Corp has joined forces with Compaigne des Machines Bull SA to form an alliance that will see Bull selling NCR’s WorldMark servers and its Teradata database software. The alliance coincides with NCR’s announcement last week (CI No 3,181) that it is getting out of the data mining tools business and turning to third party tools. NCR says the products help local and state authorities cut administration costs and claims the US state of Minnesota is expected to make an annual saving of $1m. It is thought that Bull will integrate Teradata, and WorldMark with its own software. Teradata played a major part in NCR’s revival after it was purchased by AT&T in the early 1990’s.
