In a bid to complete its Year 2000 program, Compagnie des Machines Bull SA will implement Wincap technology to provide customers with a complete system following the announcement of a world-wide partnership agreement between the companies. The Wincap Repository – from Paris-based Alur SA, a company that has concentrated on tools for converting large-scale information systems to client-server – identifies and locates date fields which enable evaluation and documentation of work required to adapt source codes. Alur, founded in 1992, changed its name to Wincap SA at the beginning of this year, realizing that it was effectively a one-product company. Both companies have been working together to develop software that will enable successful implementation of the Wincap technology into Bull Year 2000 methodology. Bull believes that its partnership with Wincap will enable it to address the concerns of customers and enable Year 2000 program compliance. Customers who choose to invest in Wincap’s technology on a long term basis will be able to apply it in other contexts such as the European currency change and reverse documentation, according to Bull. UK software house PTC Ltd, based in Stevenage, UK, takes the credit for bringing the tool to the attention of Bull.
