BULL TAKES A CHIP DOWN MEMORY LANE

By CBR Staff Writer

So, whatever happened to the fabled PowerPC 620 chip? Compagnie des Machines Bull says that it will be using the unloved 64 bit component in a number of midrange servers. The French company has spent some time trying to get a product line together using the processor, now made solely by Motorola Inc after IBM dropped the chip (CI No 3,241). But Bull is coy about what future the 620 might have merely saying it is currently keeping its options open.
